West Limerick retreat
A nourishing personal retreat for retirement

Step inside this garden
A garden of two halves – one for relaxing and the other for feasting! Ideas include an archway leading to a cosy Summerhouse & seating circle enveloped by scented planting beside a reflective wildlife pond. A mown pathway will lead on down the garden to pause & enjoy views through a vista to the surrounding landscape. The orchard will be extended with the meadow underneath managed for wildflowers before stepping through into the feasting garden with a nuttery under-planted with soft fruit, raised beds, rainwater harvesting, compost tumblers & a polytunnel.
The re-imagining process
Dig deeper & explore how we developed the ideas & inspiration for this space virtually!
The Space
The family home, previously full of vegetables & now trees sown many years ago by the clients father. Work & health meant the garden had been left for a few years – the briars had moved in & old structures were starting to tumble & become unsafe.
The Client Brief
“After recently retiring, I’m keen to focus some time and energy into my garden. I need help changing the layout & planting which has become quite overgrown in areas. I really want to continue to grow some fruit and veg for harvesting but needs to be low maintenance as my energy is limited. I already have a space for entertaining outdoors but would really like a peaceful space for myself to sit with a book. Scent is really important to me, I particularly love chocolate cosmos!“

Client Testimonial
“I now feel energised to tackle the area!”
“I had reached a mental and physical block as to what to do with my space to make it more viable & enjoyable. I was really grateful to have the benefit of the teams extensive knowledge & expertise to plan wisely & creatively. Advice on maximising biodiversity, composting, water conservation , seasonal planting, pruning and when / how to relocate existing plants was invaluable. I felt that the team really tuned in from the outset into how I felt about the garden & its potential & how I wanted to strike a better balance between the time & energy invested into managing it with the sheer enjoyment of being out there! My new plan allows for practical improvements I can undertake in the short, medium & longer terms with a revised layout I love & feel is achievable.”
